Furniture Makeovers

Chalk Paint vs. Milk Paint

So the other day I took at shower at 4pm. Why so late? It was seriously the only moment of free time I was able to do it & I was starting to feel so overwhelmed with all the things I have on the go that it seemed like the only logical thing to do. #momproblems As always, I turned on Songza and mindlessly chose the playlist entitled "90's Crowd Pleasing Hits". Now let me tell you, when your playlist starts of with 'Unpretty' by TLC and is followed by Oasis, Bush, Live, Dr. Dre & Pearl Jam, it makes it incredibly hard to want to step out of the shower. No[...]

Boring to Beauty – A Bench Makeover

A few weeks back I did my first Periscope. To say I was nervous is an understatement. I'm not very natural in front of the camera and having people watch me live makes me want to down a glass of Moscato. Cheers! Anyhow if you caught the broadcast then you'll know that we're making Ellie's 'baby room' into more of a big girl room that she can grow into. One of the pieces I found was an awesome vanity table with 7 drawers and a cute little bench to sit on. It'll definitely be a piece that she can grow into. It's solid wood and really sturdy, so I'm thanking[...]

Painting Fabric with Milk Paint

I scored these chairs on a Facebook buy and sell page awhile ago. They were purchased with the sole purpose of  painting the fabric. Crazy I know. I figured if it didn't work out, I would re-upholster them and call it a day. Well let me tell you, painting fabric isn't as simple as I figured it would be. I had just received an order of Miss Mustard Seed Milk Paint and although I had never used Milk Paint before, thought painting micro fibre fabric would be a good starting point. Insane, I know. Big thing to note here is that you want to mi[...]

School Desk Rock

A few weeks ago I found this vintage school desk & chair at a garage sale. Despite some markings on the top of the desk, both were in great shape! I keep finding that more often than not I'm drawn to more vintage items. It's pretty out of the norm for me, if I had to describe my style and taste it would lean more towards contemporary, yet cottage, with maybe a touch of industrial. Broad range, I know! It must be my inner Laura Ingalls Wilder coming out, ha! Here's what I started with:  Nothing a few coats of paint can't fix, right? I must say, I[...]

Chalky Finish Sofa Table

Hey, hey, happy Monday! Holy smokes though, literally. The fires are burning hard up North and we're definitely starting to see the effects of it, such a smoky morning this morning. I can't imagine being in the thick of it , working in insurance we always see the after effects of fire & smoke damage. It's definitely NOT something I ever want to experience firsthand. On a lighter note though, I have great furniture makeover for you today. This is the first time I've used only DecoArt Chalky Finish paint & I have to say I'm super impressed with the finish[...]
