Bringing Fall Into Your Home

Fall is my favourite season. The crispness is the air, the crunch of the leaves as you walk down the street and the colors. I LOVE THE COLORS. We have some of the most amazing sunsets on the prairies and it, combined with the vibrant hues on the leaves is pretty breathtaking. The only thing I dislike about Fall is that winter follows way too quickly!

Once September hits and the kids are back in school I’m able to find the time to infuse some of that fall feeling into our décor. Fall décor doesn’t have to boast bold & vivid hues, a neutral palette can make just as big an impact. By incorporating simple items like corn husks, cotton branches, and pumpkins – both real and decorative – you can really invoke the coziness of fall with minimal effort.

Combining textures, and adding pops of green and red from the air plants and acorns, help add some life to the neutral hues and keep it from feeling too blah. My parents grow a pretty good pumpkin patch each year and my mom is always trying out different varieties of pumpkins. These porcelain pumpkins are perfect for stacking on a crate and have such beautiful coloring to them.

Simple additions, like this gold painted mason jar, are perfect to hold some dried hydrangea’s. A sheaf of wheat & various of wood tones help bring the look together.

Despite the neutral tones and subtle color here and there, it wouldn’t feel like fall without some hints of orange. I purchased the white oversized lantern a couple of years ago & it has been so versatile to use. Right now it holds some small gourds and ornamental pumpkins in different shapes, textures & colors. Being a huge fan of Mercury Glass I was super happy to find this pumpkin to add to my collection. Dried hydrangea’s here and there pull the look together.
