We’re onto week 2 of our $100 room challenge and I gotta say, I’m already behind schedule. Oops! Here’s what we did in Week 1.
This week we have gotten as far as peeling the decals off the wall and mudding the 1,762,931 holes, knicks & peeled paint that was left behind. Seriously, if Mike Holmes had seen the walls he woulda been all “The right thing to do…is replace all the gyproc”. Who’s got the patience for that though? Not this girl. Thankfully we keep a pail of mud on hand because, well, kids. More specifically boys & hockey sticks and balls and Nerf dart. Argh the Nerf darts! So unforgiving on walls!
So now that the dirty work is underway here’s what else we have planned for the room:
- Finish mudding & sanding
- Prime and paint the walls
- Touch up baseboards & trim
- Build some shelves
- Get or make some hockey inspired wall art to hang
- DIY a hockey stick hanger
- clean the junk out of his room!
Reasonable to do list right? If my arms don’t die on me this week with sanding, priming & painting then I’ll be good! Don’t forget to check out all the other fun makeovers happening below!

Painting is not so fun but the results are so worth it in the end!

The worst part…I had so many giant drywall anchor holes to patch in my laundry room. Glad that’s over with, too!
Erin @ Lemons, Lavender, & Laundry
Wow. That is a lot of patching 🙂 I hear ya with boys though. They’re rough. It’ll all look so wonderful with a coat of paint though.

I can’t wait to see your Hockey inspired artwork!
Nicki Parrish
Haha, I thought in the snippet picture that you had painted clouds on the wall! Patching walls sucks, I can never get it to look perfect. Hopefully you are way better at it than I am! Good luck!
