The Royal Affair: A Purple & Gold Desk Makeover

Happy New year my friends! December flew by like no other month. It was here and then all of a sudden it was Christmas and then New Years and yeah, not much was accomplished blog wise. But I'm back and I have a royal treat for you today! I was asked to redo a desk as a Christmas gift for a fun and spunky 12 year old and the biggest request was that it had to be purple. Here's what it looked like before, without the legs attached. I chose a purple called "Lavender" from Rustoleum's Chalked paint line to use on the desk. The base needed some minor[...]

How to Add Wrapping Paper to Furniture

It's no secret that I love to paint furniture. If I could, I would paint ALL the furniture. But then I'd probably end up homeless. From time to time you may want to add a little something extra to your furniture. A little pattern, a little oomph, some pizazz maybe? One of the easiest ways to liven up drawers or shelves or a back piece on your furniture is by using wrapping paper. For real, it's not just for wrapping gifts, it's in fact the gift that keeps on giving. You'll love the extra pop it gives to what can sometimes be just another piece of painted fu[...]

Mint & Navy Desk Makeover

*This post is sponsored by DecoArt. All thoughts and opinions are 100% my own.* Hey. You. Yeah you! Long time no talk my friend. How is it already October? Honestly, September flew by at mach speed & now I've got Christmas on my mind. Just kidding. Almost. It's been awhile since we've had a real good furniture makeover around here, so I'm SUPER excited to be sharing this one with you today. I snagged this beauty desk off a local buy and sell page and it originates from the rare IKEA tree. Ok, not so much rare, but it's legit from a tree. And not the[...]

Vanity Table Makeover

It's a furniture makeover day! Yay! I wish I could spend my days putting new life into furniture rather than sitting in a too cold office, but alas, it's just not yet meant to be.  A lady had contacted me about redoing a vanity table she had and I jumped all over it. Although my makeup application skills are sub par (as in mascara is the only thing I wear) I love working on them. They have such character and I love the idea of having one in a room.  This piece was no exception, the colouring and wood grain were beautiful and I was a little sad to cover it up. [...]

Mid Century Dresser to Media Console Makeover

It's been awhile since I've shared a furniture makeover on the blog. Come think to think of it, it's been forever since I've actually re-finished a piece of furniture!! I snagged this mid century beauty off a local buy and sell page recently for a whopping $25 with the full intention of converting it into a media console. I've been wanting to tackle a project like this for a while, it was just hard to find the right dresser to do it with! As soon as one comes up on the buy and sell pages, it's gone. 9 drawer dressers are apparently a popular item in these parts[...]
