Magnet Board to Game Board – Week 3 Update

How to turn a chalkboard into a hockey game board

**This post contains affiliate links. Please read my full disclosure HERE** Hey hey! How is it already Friday? I'm late with an update on our room makeover this week. It's been a hectic week of work, hockey, lacrosse, patching, sanding, patching again, priming, patching, more priming, choosing paint... the struggle is real. Tuck wanted dark blue "like our bathroom door" for his room. To find some inspiration I scrolled through Benjamin Moore's Instagram feed and checked out all the different dark blue rooms it featured. So much inspiration! Tucker's room f[...]

Week 2: Our Hockey Room Game Plan

$100 Room Challenge - Week 2: The Game Plan

We're onto week 2 of our $100 room challenge and I gotta say, I'm already behind schedule. Oops! Here's what we did in Week 1. This week we have gotten as far as peeling the decals off the wall and mudding the 1,762,931 holes, knicks & peeled paint that was left behind. Seriously, if Mike Holmes had seen the walls he woulda been all "The right thing to replace all the gyproc". Who's got the patience for that though? Not this girl. Thankfully we keep a pail of mud on hand because, well, kids. More specifically boys & hockey sticks and balls and[...]

If I ever thought I could stretch a dollar before, then is will definitely be the test! Each Wednesday we'll post our room progress, until the big reveal day on the last Wednesday of the month! Tucker's been asking[...]

All Hale That Damn Door

Hey hey! If you've been hanging around for a bit, you'll remember I painted one of our interior doors a beautiful blue called Thunderbird Blue. Well, back in November, we were having some friends over before we headed out for a comedy night. Instead of tidying the house I painted that damn door. My intentions were to actually paint our exterior door, but then Mother Nature went all cray cray on me and it was too cold. So I had to satisfy my painting itch somehow. If you've never painted interior doors before, do not be afraid! It's super simple and I'm going t[...]

Bringing Fall Into Your Home

Bringing the outside indoors with fall neutrals

Fall is my favourite season. The crispness is the air, the crunch of the leaves as you walk down the street and the colors. I LOVE THE COLORS. We have some of the most amazing sunsets on the prairies and it, combined with the vibrant hues on the leaves is pretty breathtaking. The only thing I dislike about Fall is that winter follows way too quickly! Once September hits and the kids are back in school I'm able to find the time to infuse some of that fall feeling into our décor. Fall décor doesn't have to boast bold & vivid hues, a neutral palette can make[...]
