$100 Room Challenge – Week One: The Chosen One

Hey all! Well we’re starting March off with a bang and a fun announcement! Erin from Lemons Lavender and Laundry is hosting a $100 Room Challenge & I’m joining in along with some other really amazing bloggers.

In one month, each one of us will be giving a space in our homes a makeover for only $100. That’s it, $100. No more (I hope) and no less. If I ever thought I could stretch a dollar before, then is will definitely be the test! Each Wednesday we’ll post our room progress, until the big reveal day on the last Wednesday of the month!

Tucker’s been asking for awhile now for a room revamp, so this couldn’t have come along at a better time! Right now his room has a soft woodsy vibe to it. He’s ready for change and he wants it in the form of a hockey rink. Go figure.

Here’s what we came up with when I asked him what exactly was in a hockey room. Initially, all I could picture was the Budweiser goal light going off non stop, but thankfully the idea didn’t cross his mind! Thankfully, for Christmas he received the exact bedding in our mood board so that cut down on our cost before we got a chance to start!

Here’s what his room looks like now:

I can tell you right now, I’m not looking forward to peeling those trees off the wall. And I gotta say, his walls look like they are in decent shape in these photo’s! You’d never know the kid took a hammer and some nails to one wall. That’s what happens when you tell the creative child to hold on a minute before you can hang stuff,. Why wait when he can just hang it himself?! Then there’s the random little holes scattered here and there, the result of his sister and a ball point pen. Don’t ask.

We definitely have our work cut out for us.

I can’t wait to get the ball rolling and show you all the thrifty ways we’re gonna pull this one off! You can follow along with everyone’s progress through the link up below and also on social media at #100RoomChallenge.

That hockey stick hanger is so cute. My husband is from Minnesota and I’m pretty sure he or any of his friends growing up would have had that. LOL.

I had to peel a dandelion decal off my daughter’s wall. Ya know the one with all the little seeds blowing across the wall? Oy! It isn’t fun. A razor blade is your friend on that one. How cute is that little chair though? <3

We moved last year and I’m pretty sure I had to spackle 3,456 tack holes in my son’s room! I was ready to just hang new drywall! I can’t wait to see how this room turns out! My husband’s a hockey player, so I can totally see the vision!
